3 things that make data analytics solution different for SMEs

TL;DR

SME has similar need but different in requirement.

As part of my journey to create LAC data analytics solution for SME business owner, I started to talk with business owner I can find. During these conversation I learned a few things on what makes data analytics solution different for SME owner

1. Similar use cases as large enterprise, but at smaller scale and specific

The use case that I have heard are similar to what we would typically see in large enterprise. However, the solution need to be nimble and specific to their industry. What it means that we can potentially create something smaller and simpler for SME business owner.

For example: customer 360. instead of targeting global scale, most SME has their specific target client segment. The resulting application can be much simpler as oppose to mainstream application that aim for large enterprise, which has much broader client segments

2. Operation-less as oppose to serverless

Through the discussion, it is important to keep the solution operation-free in SME business owner perspective. Typically, they do not have IT / tech support and rely on vendor to help most of the time.

Serverless requirement which provide the auto-scaling may not be a must have

3. Adapt to change instead of changing the software

SME business owner are more easy to drive change in their smaller organization. As a result, the cost of organization change is way lower than sending a customization request to software vendor. it means that we have chance to create a replicable product for SME business owner of similar nature.

All point seems positive to create a nimble and cost effective data analytics solution for SME business owner.
